I went home, here in the Province of Compostela with my family in celebrating New Year. We didn’t cook a lot of foods; we only have enough amount of it to sustain us during the celebration. During the 31st of December, it was a very rainy night by the way, and also very cold, it was freezing outside that we close our little sari- sari store early and watched television instead inside our house, at about eight o’clock, me my mother and my little sister slept early for we could not sustain the cold weather, my father witnessed the colorful fireworks while we three, the ladies slept through the cold birth of a brand new year that has come which was greeted by fireworks, and the noises of 'torotots' and other things because its our Filipino way of warding off evil and bad luck, we Filipinos have many traditions during new year, like jumping so that we could gain height, throwing off coins, collecting 12 circle fruits and some I didn’t bother knowing. Some families have their own cultures and traditions but we have kept it simple; staying safe for another year. And that is what happened during my vacation.

The Two Births Celebrated
We Filipinos have always loved to celebrate these two special occasions
which is the Birth of Christ and the Birth of a New Year. On my vacation, I celebrated
my Christmas time in Tagum City with my Uncle and Grandma and lots of cousins
and relatives in our village in the city. We enjoyed taking pictures of us in
the New City Hall of Tagum where the tall Christmas tree took place and a
beautiful fountain of water danced, there are also different decorations in
there that can make you feel the warmth, joy and true essence of Christmas.
